Stablized

Posted in About Dragonlings, mini projects, Site News, work at 10:08 pm by chooseareality

Dragonlings is up and running again.  It isn’t that it wasn’t stable.  I just was working on other things and now have stepped back into Dragonlings to keep things moving forward.  A few pieces needed some attention, but I fixed them up and change some of the controls and now I am ready to start building new things.

I am doing way too much now and I am trying to figure out what needs to be cut to make time.  I even have another at home project on the horizon that I have no idea where I am going to get the time to work on.  It is hard when I am so excited about so many different things.

Here are my choices:

  • Work on a volunteer project that I joined and takes 40+ hours a month most likely. (Smaller items that I can finish, but lots of items.)
  • Work on Dragonlings and create a really fun game, or at least create something so I can say look I can make games. (Epic size of this makes it very intimidating.)
  • Work on an open source project that looks really exciting, and I have been meaning to start working on something in the open source world. (Downside is I need to learn yet another language.)
  • Do nothing and just play WAR :)   (Not really an option, but fun to imagine.)

What do you think?

Refactoring done

Posted in mini projects at 8:27 pm by chooseareality

Just added the ability to align the marquee to basic locations on the screen like top left, or top right.  Made it more stable and now it is ready to be used and I am just about ready to call this mini project done.

Now I need to figure out what I want to do next, or I need to figure out what else I can make the marquee do.

Refactoring day

Posted in mini projects at 2:46 pm by chooseareality

Today I get to clean up my code on my mini project I am working on and add comments where it makes sense.  I am working on making a marquee that someone can configure in any way they want.

You can configure the following:

  • Tint (RGB)
  • Size
  • Width of marquee
  • Graphic used for the LED lights
  • Spacing between the LED lights
  • Create a custom letter, but this would involve editing script.
  • Height adjusts automatically based upon size of LED lights in the letters.

Besides the refactoring I also need to make the marquee position something that can be configured… currently it just sits at the top left corner.

Obviously this isn’t something that I could use in dragonlings, but it was fun to make.
