Long overdue
So the title of this blog is slowly become very wrong and I apoligise for that, I just can’t really talk about Dragonlings much, and I have been working on other things that just don’t belong here. To fix this problem I have started a new blog that I hopefully will be posting in more often at choosemyreality.wordpress.com. I messed up and lost my usual chooseareality name to not paying attention to what happens when you delete a blog from another account. (I don’t get it and it is gone forever! 
) Not a biggie, just had to reword my usual name a bit.
Hopefully I can start making some posts now that I have a much broader subject matter to attack. Namely anything that is catching my attention at the moment.

Stablized
Dragonlings is up and running again. It isn’t that it wasn’t stable. I just was working on other things and now have stepped back into Dragonlings to keep things moving forward. A few pieces needed some attention, but I fixed them up and change some of the controls and now I am ready to start building new things.
I am doing way too much now and I am trying to figure out what needs to be cut to make time. I even have another at home project on the horizon that I have no idea where I am going to get the time to work on. It is hard when I am so excited about so many different things.
Here are my choices:
- Work on a volunteer project that I joined and takes 40+ hours a month most likely. (Smaller items that I can finish, but lots of items.)
- Work on Dragonlings and create a really fun game, or at least create something so I can say look I can make games. (Epic size of this makes it very intimidating.)
- Work on an open source project that looks really exciting, and I have been meaning to start working on something in the open source world. (Downside is I need to learn yet another language.)
- Do nothing and just play WAR (Not really an option, but fun to imagine.)

Do not Upgrade!
I broke my wiki at lunch today and lost about two months worth of data. Luckily I haven’t been editing it too much. The biggest hit was it took out my Adsense code, but not a big loss since the whole time the site has been up I have only made about a dollar. I was kinda hoping it would get a few more hits, but when I stopped updating they went away.
I broke it because I decided to upgrade to the most recent version and I decided to do it in the small window I have for lunch. It was a really bad idea and I should have double checked the backup before I did the damage. I didnt’ though. In effect I copied over the files and replaced them with pristine copies of the default install. Just like that and the work I had done was gone.
- The troubleshooting of Adsense… gone!
- The news items I just posted… gone!
- My lunch… gone! (Ok, really not gone just not what I had pictured I would be working on at lunch.)
The good news is the upgrade has fixed the wiki so I can run it at my hosting company, Network Solutions. Before I had hit a wall with the Admin functionality and the user rights it needed to run. Thankfully, they fixed the problem and with it I have also been granted working SQL Server data store options. So I moved the data from the file store to the Data store. I feel a lot better now. (The database is backed up by them regularly, Yay!)
I would do it again if I had the choice to make again, so I guess I lied with my title. I know better than to try an upgrade without a backup, but I was in a hurry and cut corners. Everyone out there, please make sure you regularly back up your important data, and please, please, don’t try to upgrade anything unless you know you can restore it when you mess up.
Oh, and no Dragonlings posting today. Needless to say, I was busy at lunch!
